The general protection box, known by its acronym CGP, is an insulating material box that houses the protection elements of the general power lines of an electrical installation. Inside there are three fuses (one for each phase conductor) that protect against possible short circuits, breakdowns or possible failures in the light supply. It is also used with the aim of:
• Preserve the safety of people and their property.
• Ensure the operation of the facilities and prevent any problems with adjacent facilities.
• Contribute to technical confidence and economic efficiency.
Where is the CGP located?
The General Protection Fund is usually outside buildings or normally within private properties to ensure their protection. They can appear in high places, when the connection of the distribution company is aerial or in a wall or cabin when it is underground.
